Tintes naturales y pueblos originarios - Natural dyeing and originary people

La semana pasada estuve experimentando con tintes naturales (índigo). El 9 de Agosto fue el dia de los pueblos originarios en Argentina, y Agosto está dedicado a la Fiesta de la Pachamama (la madre tierra), una celebración de agradecimiento. ¿Porqué cuento todo ésto, que puede parecer mezclado?, porque quiero compartir algunas imágenes, relacionadas con éstos temas, del viaje que hicimos éste verano a Perú y Bolivia, países llenos de color e historia.

Last week I´ve been experimenting with natural dyeing  (indigo). On 9 th August it was "the originary people day" in Argentina and August is devoted to Pachamama (mother earth), a thanksgiven  celebration. ¿Why am I telling this, that may seem mixed up?, because I want to share with you some pictures, related to these topics, of the travel we made last summer to Perú and bolivia, countries full of history and colour.

Estos son los tapices hechos a mano, porsupuesto, de las comunidades de las islas flotantes del lago Titicaca, el lago navegable mas alto del mundo.

These are the tapestrymade by the people who live in the floating island of Titicaca lake, the highest navigable lake in the world.

Mantienen sus costumbres previas a la conquista.

Tiñiendo con índigo - Dyeing with indigo

Ayer asistí a un nuevo seminario: tiñiendo con índigo, con Luciana Marrone, que es especialista en tintes naturales y una profe maravillosa!
Ya que me quedé sin batería, no tengo fotos del seminario... pero tomé estas ésta mañana, en casa.
Auspicia ésta entrada... Cristian Castro "porque éste post es azul, como el mar azul..." (es un cantante, sino lo conocen, todo bien, pueden vivir con eso)


Yesterday I attended a new workshop: dyeing with indigo, with Luciana Marrone, who is specialist on natural dyeing and a wonderful teacher!
 Since I ran out of battery, I don´t have photos of the workshop... but I took these this morning, at home.

Experimentamos con índigo natural y un pigmento sintético que también tiñe azul. Pueden adivinar cuál es cuál?

 We experimented  with natural indigo and a synthetic pigment that also dyes blue. Can you guess which is which?

 Yo teñí algodón, gasa, gasa sanitaria, lienzo, lana y vellón

I dyed cotton, chiffon, sanity gauzze, canvas, wool and fleece. 

Éste es el natural...

This is the natural one...

Y éste es el sintético...

And this is the synthetic one...




Pero con el cielo... no tuve nada que ver!

But the sky... I didn´t have nothing to do with it!

Y éstos son mis chiches nuevos!! : el libro de la profe, índigo sintético, bambú y grana cochinilla!!! (un tinte natural americano que da una amplia gama de rojos, purpuras, fucsia, bordeaux, atc)


And these are my new toys!!: the book about natural dyeing by the teacher, synthetic indigo,  bamboo and "grana cochinilla"(it is an american natural dye that gives a great variety of red, purple, fuchsia, bordeaux, etc)

Lo mejor de estos encuentros, no es sólo el aprendizaje en si mismo, sino el conocer nuevas personas, cada una con su propia riqueza, intercambiar y compartir. Un combo completo de crecimiento!!.

The best of this workshops is, not only "learning" itself, but also meeting new people, with their own richness, exchanging and sharing. A full pack of "development"!!
