Día de fieltro! - Felt day!

Éste jueves, fuí a hacer un seminario con Lucíana Marrone, diseñadora industrial y especialista en teñido natural en "El taller de artes y oficios"  (http://www.eltalleroficios.com.ar/). Es una profe divina y generosa!
 Ya que estoy de vacaciones de invierno, quiero hacer TODO. Y el fieltro es una de esas cosas.
Éstas son algunas imágenes del seminario: fieltro tridimensional, pantuflas y sombreros.

Last thursday, I attended a workshop with Lucíana Marrone an industrial designer and specialist in natural dyeing at "El taller de artes y oficios"  (www.eltalleroficios.com.ar) .  She is a lovely and generous teacher!.
Since I am on my winter holidays, I want to do EVERYTHING. And felting is one of those things.
These are some pictures from the workshop: three-dimensional felt, slippers and hats.

Y las pantuflas... son como zapatos de gnomo!! me encantan!!

And the slippers... are like gnomo´s shoes... I love them!!

No... no es que quiera hacerme la sexy con ésta pose... es la parte final del proceso.

Y aquí están! perfectas para mirar una peli, comer chocolate (las dos cosas mejor!), tejer, leer, etc, etc

Fin de semana vintage - Vintage weekend

Hace dos fines de semana ( el finde antes del "cocooning" finde) fuimos a visitar a mis cuñados. era la primera vez que iba a su departamento, un hogar encantador.
Su historia es una historia de amor: Aurelie es de París, Leo es de Bs. As., y se conocieron en Jujuy! (en el norte de Argentina).
Dado que los dos son arquitectos ( y tienen realmente muy buen gusto) su lugarcito está lleno de detalles preciosos...

Two weekends ago (the weekend before the cocooning weekend) we  visited  my brother and sister in law: . It was the first time I visited  their apartment, a lovely home.
 Their story is a love story: Aurelie is from Paris, Leo from Bs. As. and they met in Jujuy! (in northern Argentina) .
 Since both are architect (and have really good taste) their place it´s full of lovely details...

 Esta es una heladera de madera muy antigua. Se compraba hielo y se le ponía dentro. Me ENCAAAANTA ese amarillo que eligieron. Y lo mejor: la encontraron tirada en la calle!!!!


 This is a very old  wooden fridge. People used tu buy ice and put inside it. I LOOOOVE that yellow they  ´ve chosen for it. And the best: they found it left in the street!!!

Mi pequeño aporte: marquise de chocolate. (todavía no aprobé la materia de desmolde, por eso tiene el papel manteca!) pero estaba exquisita!

My humble present: chocolate marquise. (still haven´t pass the "unmold subject", that is why it has parchment paper! ) but it was delicious!

Pasron el último año en Francia... y éste es el "souvenir"... . Asi que... mi abuela tenía razón!! los bebés si vienen de Paris!!

They have spent a year in France... and this is the "souvenir". So... my grandma was right!! babies do come from Paris!!! (have you noticed that lovely vintage sweater and the buttons?)

A la tarde, fuimos a dar una vuelta por el "Mercado de pulgas", donde venden muebles antiguos.

In the afternoon, we went for a stroll in the "Mercado de pulgas", where vintage furniture is sold.

Me gusta todo!!. El aparador que tengo en casa, que me dió mi abuela María es parecido a estos (incluso en el color original... como transpiré para sacarsela!)

I like everything!!. The cupboard I have at home, and my grandma María gave me, is similar to these ( even the original color... how I sweat taking it out!)

"Cocooning" al extremo - Extreme cocooning

Una vez leí ésta expresión en algún lado y me encantó!. (es algo así como "encapullarse")
 He estado bastante cansada y con algunos problemas últimamente. Además, hace un "re frío" afuera y yo estoy con un "res-frío" adentro.
 Así que, pastelito y yo decidimos hacer "cocooning" éste finde!!!. Hogar, hogar y hogar: la mejor forma de empezar de nuevo. Empezar qué? la segunda parte del año!!. Si bién pasaron cosas buenas en los primeros seis meses, hubo cosas profundamente tristes. La mas imortante fue la pérdida de nuestro primer embarazo, pero también hubo custiones familiares y laborales. Pero no quiero ser una de esas personas que se quejan diciendo "ay, que año este!".
No elegimos algunas de las experiencias que vivimos, pero podemos elegir cómo vivirlas y hacer experiencia de ellas.
 El viernes fue 1° de Julio, día del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús (una fecha especial para mi) y declaramos que comienza una nueva etapa ahora!! Asi que... felíz año nuevo!!

Once I read this expression somwhere, and I love it!. 
I´ve been pretty tired and pretty troubled lately. Apart from this, it is really cold outside and I am with "a cold inside".
 So, "little pie" and I decided to "do cocooning" this weeekend!!.  Home, home and home: the best way to start again. Start what? : the second part of the year!!. . Even good things happened in the first six months, there was some deeply sad events. The main one was loosing our first pregnancy, but there was some family and work problems too. So, I don´t want to be one of those people who just complain "oh! what a year".  We don´t choose some of the experiences we live, but we do can choose  how  tolive them and to make  experience with them. Friday was 1st. July, the  "Sacred heart of Jesus day", (which is special for me) and we declare that a new period begins now! So.... happy new year!!

 "Curulunas", la receta de mi bisabuela

"Curulunas" my greatgrandma´s recipe

Ahora me doy cuenta que ésta actitud de cobijarse, de "encapullarse" me recuerda al estado previo a una nueva vida que comienza... como la tierra en barbecho, las semillas antes de brotar, la ninfa antes de convertirse en mariposa... . Pueden parecer dormidas, quietas, hasta muertas.  Pero la vida late con fuerza dentro... esperando el  momento preciso para florecer mostrar toda su belleza...

Now I realize that this sheltering attitude reminds me of the state before a new life begins... like land in fallow, seeds before it sprouts, like nymph before becoming a butterfly... They may seem asleep, calm, even dead. But life  beats strongly inside... waiting for the right moment to bloom and show its beauty...       

El cumple de mi bisabuela - My greatgrandma´s birthday

 Hoy hubiese sido el cumple de mi bisabuela. Una mujer admirable, alegre, trabajadora y valiente que falleció hace casi tres años.
Nació en 1916, durante la Primer Guerra Mundial. Su mamá falleció cuando tenía dos años, mientras su padre estaba en el frente. Tuvo que atravesar también la Segunda Guerra, crió seis hijos (dos fallecieron cuando eran chiquitas) , y cuando la guerra terminó, tuvo que esperar a su esposo por varios años porque era prisionero de guerra en Inglaterra.
 Además de muchos recuerdos dulces y aprendizajes, guardo de ella algunos objetos que amo!


Today it would have been my greatgrandma´s birthday. An admirable, joyful, brave and laborious woman who passed away almost trhee yeas ago.
 She was born in 1916, during the First World War. Her mother died when she was two, while her father was  fighting in the front. She also  went trough the the Second W. W. She raised six children ( two of them died when they were little girls) and, when war ended, she had to wait for  her husband severa years more because he was a war prisoner  in England.
 Apart from many sweet memories and learnings, I keep some things that belonged to her and I love!

En uno de sus cajoncitos todavía estaba la garantía de Italia, en 1949.

In one of the drawers, there still was the guarantee from Italy, in 1949.

Y éste es el baúl de madera que trajeron en su viaje de Italia a Argentina. Ahora está en mi living. Me encanta!!.

 And this is the wooden trunk they brought in their trip from Italy to Argentina. It´s in my living now. I love it!!

Todavía se lee el nombre de mi bisabuelo escrito sobre él. "Andrea" es Andrés en castellano.

It still can be read the name of my greatgrandfather written on it: "Andrea" means Andrew in english.

Lo mejor que se puede hacer con aquellos que amas es disfrutarlos todo lo que se pueda cuando están físicamente con vos. Claro que se extrañan, pero se siente paz en el corazón...

The best you can do with the ones you love is to enjoy as much as you can when they are physically with you. Of course you´ll miss them anyway, but you feel peace in your heart...
